What is Depression?

Experiencing sadness following a loss is a normal, healthy reaction and part of a process back to healing. However, a low mood that lasts for a long time and affects your everyday life may have developed into depression. In its mildest form, depression can mean just being in low spirits. It doesn’t stop you leading your normal life but makes everything harder to do and seem less worthwhile. Prolonged feelings of hopelessness and an inability to see things changing can be extremely detrimental to our wellbeing and ability to get ourselves out of that rut – this is where professional help can support us in seeing that there is another way of approaching this.
